In early 1998 Norac began commercial production of SFE products at its new
Supercritical Fluid Extraction Plant in a 20,000 square feet facility in the The plant comprises four 250 litre extractors which operate at pressures up to 550 bar and 110 C. The extraction cycle is configured to maintain 500 litres of extraction capacity online continuously, 24 hours a day. To provide further operating efficiencies, the extraction cycle includes configuration to recover enthalpy losses (pressure and temperature energy) during vessel de-pressurization. The separation system comprises three vessels, each with independent control over pressure/temperature parameters to allow precise fractionation of extracts continuous with extraction. The entire module is controlled through a centralized Computer System that can be operated in either manual or automatic modes. This is the first SFE plant in the world to provide the ultimate in precise control of extraction and fractionation by way of fully automated computer control. The Norac Commercial SFE Centre will produce the renowned Norac SC® and other quality products for world markets. It is also available for production of Customized and Proprietary client product lines and for Toll Processing. |
